Fairfield Lake is about a mile from our place. It’s roughly 55 acres in size so it’s not a huge lake by any stretch, but it’s beautiful. One side has an idyllic boathouse and the other side has ole‘ Baldy Mountain as a majestic backdrop. The elevation of the lake is about 3,200 feet.

The lake is also home to Camp Merrie-Woode, which was founded in 1919. Their mission statement: “Merrie-Woode is a sanctuary of rarest beauty which inspires a lasting awareness of God’s presence. The Mission of Camp Merrie-Woode is to use that setting to nurture the physical, intellectual and spiritual growth of girls and young women through traditional camp activities and outdoor adventures. In this friendly, non-competitive community of simplified living, each individual is valued for who she is and who she will become.” What’s not to love about that?

The photos below… On the left (or on top depending on your screen size) is a 3-frame HDR composite of the boathouse. The other daylight photo is one of several old Jon Boats ready to be put into service and have some fun. The night shot shows a bit of the Milky Way. That’s another bonus - it’s pitch black at the lake at night.
